Joint Router Bit

Is it safe to use a router on the end grain? Are there any special precautions?
I am a new woodworking and had a career in happened to my router (do not ask!'m fine!). Some time ago I looked in the creation of one of these end grain cutting boards clean and there where a lot online warnings about the implementation of its end grain through a thickness planer. On the other hand I know it is a common practice profiles road, rail and stick bits, finger joint bits, etc. through the end grain on a router table. Apparently, these operations would be quite similar, except for your fingers are much closer to the bit in a table! What's happening here? Any particular pointers for routing end grain?
The first poster not explain the "cut up", which is where it is cut in the direction of rotation of the bits, rather than against. It is so called because the bit can try to "out" of the court. Move the router in the direction opposite to the way we normally use. It is best to make precise cuts to the length of a table saw and set the end of the superior grain pieces side down on a flat surface, like a table saw, then glue and clamp up. Thus, end with the 'good side' relatively flat and only needs a minimum of sanding. The rear can be done with a belt sander, and fingers will stay attached to your arms.
