What kind of huge earthworm crawls on top of the ground during the heat of the day?
I was in the yard at a friends house the other day and I looked down to see this gigantuous earthworm crawling over the ground. It was early afternoon, sunny, and warm. It was at least a foot long (not stretching) 1/2 inch in diameter and seemed to have a triangular flat tail. It had the typical band and color of an earthworm. NO it was NOT a snake. Weird thing is, I saw another one about 10 feet away and not quite as big as the first. They were headed the same direction like they headed to a worm conference. They were moving like they were on a mission but were making no attempt to go under the dirt. Is this a certain type of worm? What would drive them onto the surface during the day like that?
It could be a type of amphibian called a gymnophiona, these are crazy things, and are found in tropical climates around the world, what colour was it?
Gymnophiona do not live tend to subettreneously although some species are burrowers. they were probalbly off to some water if it was hot either that or mating season as it is spring.
