has anyone ever heard of a shaper blade for a table saw?
a friend of mine has one that does beading, dados. tongue and groove, quarter round, shoe mould, and a variety of other things. i have been unable to find one anywhere. do they still make them or are they a thing of the past?
Yes, those can cut quite well. I have a Craftsman Molding head. It is of the "three knive" type, that is three knives to the round head. Dont buy a single knife one. They are no good.
You cannot use this as a shaper. A shaper, you can add a roller to the bottom and cut around a wooden piece fastened in the fixture. Something like a round bearing on a router.
These have limited use. I would not buy one. I own The Craftsmans set but dont use it much. I own a shaper, those are fairly cheap, used ones.
If you want tools , go to www.craigslist.org Those are people ridding of them for pennies on the dollar.
