I have two betta fish. One male and one female. For their tank i bought them the Betta Bow-Front Double Tank Kit(TM). It has a double divider system so they can see each other but can't fight.Lately i have noticed that the female betta fish can slide threw a small hole to the other side where the male is.She never tried to get there so i stopped worrying and went along with daily bases.i noticed earlier today that the female was missing from her side.I figured that she was hiding behind a plant.1 hour later i saw that ALOT of bubble things formed at the top and the female was back at where i can see her.I was told that that means they mated but they look too young.But now the female will not go to the bottom of the tank and stay near the top near the bubble and the male trying to eat them HELP!!!!!!!!!whats going on with my fish?
He is not eating the bubles. He is cleaning them. If he did not kill her. that probably means they mated. The do not usually accept each other without a reason. I guess the like each other. She is staying near the bubbles (the nest) to protect them. The male is cleaning them and making sure that they are fine. The bubles are litle eggs. Betta fish always look young. If you do not want to have baby fish you can squish the eggs but that would be mean and cruel. So congrats. You are going to be the grandparent to some baby fishes. The only thing that is strange is that the nest is usually near the bottom of the enclosure. Still, I hope this helped.
