Can my employer fire under the laws of the United Kingdom?
I cut my hand at work baldy 10 weeks ago by using an angle grinder in the work, I am an apprentice engineer, and the second handle was removed from the angle grinder, had no formal training for this power tool, but was told to use is quick and shows how, cut 2 tendens in my hand, I have full use of the hand still and struggled last week, when I came to the workshop to do my job, my supervisor who does not want me in the best me I said on Friday that my work is below standards and was quite unpleasant because I could not use my hand I had to help carry the run, was also not happy with my office work light duty, because this is not the job I paid for do, with this I say well i can see a doctor, but I would like someone from my company with me just in case i forget to ask something, refused, he is building a case that fired me coz i cannot use my hand, you can do this???
I recommend you talk to any Citizens Advice Bureau or ACAS. Gather the names of people who witnessed the accident, heard of having to use the mill and supervisors are aware of treatment you. Take someone with you to the doctor and ask them to take notes of what he says.
